Bank reconciliation with MoneyMoney

In the Mac app I match your outgoing payments from MoneyMoney against open invoices and tick off what's been paid. Only outgoing payments reach the server, and I delete them after 60 days.

Without reconciliation, you tick off transferred invoices yourself. With it, I spot the payment on your bank statement. This only works with the Consent+ Mac app and MoneyMoney on the same Mac. Reconciliation isn't available in the browser or on your phone. Consent+ itself never connects to a bank.

How it works

  1. Open Invoices in the Mac app.
  2. At the bottom, under Bank reconciliation, tap Reconcile with MoneyMoney.
  3. macOS asks once whether Consent+ may control MoneyMoney. Allow it. If MoneyMoney is locked, unlock it first.
  4. The app reads the last 60 days of transactions directly in MoneyMoney and sends me the outgoing payments.

Then I match. A payment counts as paying an open invoice if the amount matches to the cent, the currency matches, and one of these fits as well:

  • the recipient's IBAN appears on the invoice,
  • the invoice number appears in the payment reference,
  • the issuer's name appears in the recipient or the reference. Here the match has to be unambiguous.

If the payment was booked more than ten days before the invoice date, it belongs to a different invoice. Matches move to Paid with the note "paid per bank account" and the booking date. This also covers direct debits that have actually been collected. If an invoice only arrives after you've paid, I check it against the existing transactions right away.

After the first reconciliation, the app repeats it quietly every few hours while MoneyMoney is open. It never launches MoneyMoney for this.

What data is sent

For each booked outgoing payment, the app only sends:

  • date and amount with currency
  • recipient and recipient IBAN
  • payment reference

Incoming payments, balances, categories and your own account numbers never leave your Mac. Pending transactions aren't sent either. I delete transactions older than 60 days on the server.

If something looks wrong

If reconciliation ticked off the wrong invoice, open the Paid tab and tap Open again on that invoice. I'll never match that transaction to the invoice again.

If a paid invoice isn't recognised, it's usually the amount (part payment, fees, foreign currency) or a reference without number or name. Then tick it off yourself with Paid.

If the app reports that macOS denied access: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation → Consent+ → MoneyMoney.
