Quick actions

Hover over an entry in the front office – then you handle it straight from the list, without opening it.

Quick actions appear on hover

In the Front office you don’t have to open an item to handle it. When you hover over an entry in the list with a mouse or trackpad, the Quick actions appear at the end of the row. One click is enough; the entry leaves the list and the usual bar appears at the bottom – for send and file with Undo and a countdown.

This only exists on a computer. On the phone, swiping replaces quick actions: right files, left moves to tomorrow morning.

I introduce quick actions once with a hint right above the list, as soon as you’ve handled a few items. Got it dismisses it.

Which buttons appear

The buttons adapt to the item:

  • Reply ready: Send (sends the prepared reply after the undo window) and File.
  • Decision: File. The options themselves you choose in the item.
  • For reading: Read.
  • Cold outreach: Vet and File; for a prepared vetting reply Vet and Don’t reply.
  • Submitted via Consent+: Interested? and Read.

Always there: Tomorrow sets the item aside until tomorrow morning (Setting aside), and ✦ Instruction opens a field right under the row for an instruction about this very email.

For entries that were set aside, the buttons read Bring back now, File and Instruction.

Instruction for one entry

The field behind ✦ Instruction understands the same as the big field at the top, only about this email: “Forward to Michael”, “Remind me on Friday”, “What’s this about?”. The result appears as a card under the row, with undo where possible. A forward I prepare and show you for sign-off. While the field is open I don’t rebuild the list, so nothing slips away under your cursor. Esc or ✕ closes it. More under Instruction about an email.

If something’s wrong

Clicked by accident? The bar at the bottom offers Undo while the countdown runs; afterwards you’ll find the item in the History or the Done report. If you see no buttons at all, you’re probably on a touch device: swiping applies there.
