VIPs
I never filter out your VIPs' emails, always put them up for decision and tell you about urgent ones even during quiet hours. Add a whole company with @company.com.
Some people should always get through: your business partner, your most important client, your family. Add them as VIPs.
Setting VIPs
- Open Settings → Chief of staff (on your phone More → Chief of staff) and go to the section Who always gets through (VIPs).
- Enter an address, such as
name@company.com. With@company.comit applies to every address at that company. Separate several addresses with commas. - Click Add.
If you're not sure whom to add: Suggestions from my sent folder shows people you've written to several times in your recent sent emails. I leave out machines and your own addresses. Remove takes someone off the list again.
What VIP does
- Never filtered out. VIP emails stay in your inbox, even if I'd otherwise filter them. Only a block you've set yourself for that sender takes precedence.
- Always put in front of you. A VIP email never lands only in the Reading folder. I put it in the Decision folder.
- Notifications even during Quiet hours. During your quiet hours (once they're active for you, see When I get in touch) I only get in touch for urgent VIP matters. Outside quiet hours you always get a notification for VIP items, as long as notifications are on.
- Core circle. If you've already been in touch with a VIP, they're always in the core circle under Circles. The contact card says “Als VIP markiert” (marked as VIP).
- Before meetings I mark VIPs with ★ in the meeting brief.
VIPs count as known contacts. If you've allowed me to send short confirmations to known contacts myself, that applies to VIPs too. Without that permission I put every reply in front of you.
If something's wrong
A VIP email got filtered after all: check whether there's a block for that sender (Sender rules). Too many notifications: replace a whole company (@company.com) with individual addresses or adjust your quiet hours.
